  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Three days ago, Liverpool announced Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong, who was sold by Leverkusen to the Reds. But in the build-up to that social media post, Pool posted a small video clip of a Dutch flag positioned on a chair. Leverkusen, in return, today announced Flekken through a video, where he was seen entering the screen where the Dutch flag was placed on a chair. He removed the flag and sat on the chair to announce his arrival.

Flekken, who maintained eight clean-sheets last season at Brentford, has eight international caps for the Netherlands, having debuted at the age of 28 in March 2022. He has joined the German side for a reported €10 million fee.

    WHAT NEXT?

Flekken signed a three-year contract and will hope to impress in the Bundesliga next season. Leverkusen and Liverpool are currently in talks over a deal that will likely see Florian Wirtz head to Anfield.
